The Perks of Being Bilingual

The Perks of Being Bilingual

Early Steps Bilingual Preschool provides High-Quality Early Childhood Education Program and is focused on being a preschool that is geared towards bilingual education. Why bilingual? We have a lot to say about that and we would like to break down to you the different perks of promoting bilingualism among our young learners.

According to studies, being bilingual will not only give you more chances of being employed. It will also provide you greater opportunities and convenience, such as traveling abroad or talking with foreigners with ease. People who are bilingual can even appear smarter than those who are not.

Along with the advantages mentioned above, here are the other perks of being bilingual:

  • Being great at multitasking
Children who are bilingual are proven to be great at multitasking. This is because being one enables them to switch to the other language, therefore, allowing them to change their speech, writing, and structure accordingly. This, in turn, could help them not only in speaking and understanding other languages but also switching from a specific task to the other.

In this day and age, multitasking is life. Is it not a relief for you that you can confidently leave your child in the big world and know that he or she will be doing fine without you?

  • Having better memory
Forgetting where you put your car key or if you turned your stove off is agony. How great would it be if we can just go about our day without having that little voice of doubt at the back of our head? However, did you know that being bilingual can help you with your memory?

The brain is like our muscle. The more you use it, the more it can function better. If you learn another language, you tend to remember and memorize more words to add to your vocabulary. Doing so will definitely improve your memory in the times to come.

  • Acquiring better decision-making skills
There is a study that concludes bilingual people make better and more rational decisions. For bilingual people, they have to assess a particular situation in both languages. It may sound funny but hear us out.

Every culture utilizes a unique language. When you study a particular language, you tend to include the culture, making use of that language. Once you have that skill and knowledge, you then assess and make decisions based on two cultures. Hence, bilingual people tend to be better decision makers.

Those are just some of the advantages of being bilingual. If you want your children to be well-versed in two languages, particularly Spanish, enroll them here in our school. Why? It is because we do not teach children in a conventional manner. We let them engage in Spanish Bilingual Immersion in Washington DC.
